Fashion Week 2018

If you love fashion and live in New York, you probably look forward to fashion week every year. If you don’t already know, fashion week is when the fashion industry’s top designers show off their upcoming collections in a runway show and presentations. Inspired by Paris, the first fashion week took place in 1943, during World War II. It happens once in February, showcasing fall and winter clothing and once in September, showcasing spring and summer looks.

This years fashion week was full of bold and exciting looks. Jeremy Scott's 2018 fall show turned lots of heads with his kaleidoscope inspired looks. His show featured supermodel, Gigi Hadid, wearing an exhilarating purple wig. Scott reported to the press, "I was just thinking about all the different things I love and a lot of them were color. And it's a little bit cyber. It's a little bit spacey. It's a little bit of all the things you kind of come to expect from me: a little disco, a little party... Mixing all these kinds of messages of seductress and kind of little kid play.”

Some other designers that were there showcasing their upcoming collections included Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Coach, and many more. Some celebrities that made an appearance were Kate Upton, Paris Hilton, Michael B. Jordan, and more.

Designer Pyer Moss had a gospel choir singing Kendrick Lamar’s “Alright” in the background. Marc Jacobs showcased an 80’s themed collection. The Michael Kors Collection was about being unique with style and encouraged beauty in any age, shape, size, and background, which was very uplifting to the crowd. As we can see, the fashion week was full of riveting and unique fashion. Stay tuned for next year!
