What's the Difference between a Weather Watch and Warning?

Have you ever wondered what the difference is between a watch and a warning when it comes to weather?  Well, I can tell you that there is a big difference between the two.

Warnings and watches are called for tornadoes, thunderstorms flash floods, and so much more.  Both are ways to let the world know and prepare for the upcoming natural disaster.  According to Rockwall, “Watches and warnings are broadcast over the radio and TV and issued through emergency notification systems and apps.” 

A watch is when conditions are favorable for severe weather events in or near the watch area.  When the watch is announced, stay alert and be ready to take action.  

Meanwhile, a warning is when a severe weather event is imminent or occurring in the warned area.  Take action based on the emergency at hand.
